¡Bienvenido a Madres en Movimiento!
MOM's 2009 People's Assembly at the Spanish Evangelical Church on Timpson Street offered South Bronx residents a chance to share concerns directly with Mayoral Candidate Bill Thompson, the city's comptroller. Mr. Thompson enthusiastically pledged to support green jobs and an end to mayoral control over public schools. |

The Arroyo Mother - Daughter duo, New York State Assembly Representative Maria del Carmen Arroyo, and her daughter, City Council Representative Carmen Arroyo, were in good company at MOM's 2009 South Bronx People's Assembly. After years of protests and strategies from MOM members and others, Councilwoman Arroyo publicly promised to pursue the people's demand that the $500 million designated for a new jail be diverted instead into job training, educational and recreational facilities. |
